The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) has achieved a significant milestone by recovering an impressive sum of N454.805 billion worth of government assets over a span of four years.

This announcement was made by Jude Okoye, the Deputy Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at a journalist training session in Abuja. Okoye provided a detailed breakdown of the recovered assets, stating that N9.341 billion was in cash recoveries held in ICPC’s account, N67.236 billion came from ICPC’s intervention investigations, and N257.492 billion were funds restrained through final forfeiture.

Additionally, N2.865 billion was recovered through the Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiatives (CEPTI), along with other assets, while N45.280 billion was from completed projects under CEPTI. Okoye highlighted that ICPC successfully tracked 3,422 projects through the CEPTI program. In terms of budget tracking, N26.573 billion was recovered from cash that was restrained.

Furthermore, Okoye revealed that the commission achieved 90 convictions out of 4,737 investigated cases during this period, with several cases still pending in various courts. Emphasizing the importance of collective support in the fight against corruption, Okoye reiterated ICPC’s commitment to collaborating with government agencies and development partners to combat corruption in Nigeria.
