Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) female employees will now get a fully paid 6 months maternity leave rather than the conventional 3-months maternity leave.

The new global family leave policy roll out , all Diageo (UBL’s parent company)

From July 1 the female employees will get a minimum of 26 weeks of fully paid leave and In the same policy, male employees will be accredit a minimum of four weeks paternity leave. The same policy is being implemented across Africa, Europe , Asia and South America.

The chief human resource officer Mairéad Nayager, Diageo said ,We are committed to creating a fully inclusive and diverse workforce and we strongly believe that businesses play a significant role in shaping the future of society. Global businesses like Diageo must make bold moves on policies and the environments in which their employees work to ensure that the progress people deserve happens.

furthermore, in the UK, all Diageo’s 4500 employee parents are now entitle for the same fully-paid 26 weeks, conserving benefits and bonuses despite of gender sexual orientation or whether they become parents biologically, via surrogacy or adopt.

He also hopes “the policy will support employees to focus on the joy of raising a young family, while continuing to thrive at work, and ensuring women and men are supported to have time with their new baby regardless of where they live and work.”
