In a deeply disturbing case of sexual violence, the Palghar police have arrested two individuals accused of gang-raping a 10-year-old girl. The heinous crime took place in Nalla Sopara in the early hours of September 2, 2024.

According to a police official from the Achole police station, the perpetrators lured the minor with some form of allurement before forcibly taking her to an isolated location. The accused, identified as Rahul Gende (41) and Shahu, alias Lambu (35), are now in custody. The incident came to light after the victim’s mother filed a complaint with the authorities on September 6.

The police have charged the suspects under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Following the complaint, the girl was sent for a medical examination to confirm the assault.

The arrest of Gende and Lambu marks a critical step in addressing this grave crime, as the community and local authorities work towards ensuring justice for the young victim.
